Folding-community.org - Welcome to the forums. Please register to post.

Welcome to the Folding Community site/forum. We are independant of Pandegroup - a team lead by Vijay Pande of Stanford University - but work closely together with them to give [email protected] users and Pandegroup a means of communication.

Together with the members of this site, many improvements in the online casinos nz 2020 client have been made possible.

We aim to provide a good place to visit for ANY folder, regardless of team. We are working on providing you with good FAQ/KB articles in the near future, and we already have a place for 3rd party developers to provide their tools, stats and many other useful utilities.

Welcome to the site, where the admins/mods/Pandegroup are here to try to make your folding experience a better one :)

Catalyst 7.10 compatible with GPU client Reply to this News Item Print this Topic E-Mail this Topic

Announcements The new Catalyst drivers released 2007/10/10, version 7.10 (8.421) appear to work successfully with the GPU client.
The following also applies to the 7.9 hotfix that was released prior to 7.10

Apologies for the lateness of this post, but I've only just managed to find time to install and test these new drivers on the only rig with a compatible GPU.

ATI seems to have resolved the issues that appeared early on during GPU fahcore development, and their new driver releases all work with the GPU [email protected] client. Given this fact, it is fairly safe to assume that any new driver releases will also work, and these posts are not as urgently required as they once were. I will however continue to maintain these driver release posts for reference, and to alert you to any potential problems.

The clients will work as expected with the new drivers.

The new HD2X00 cards are not yet supported by the GPU client and this will only be resolved by a new GPU client.

On some single GPU systems you will have to force the card detection by using the -gpu 0 flag.

It is recommended that when you start the GPU client (console or GUI versions) you watch the temperatures and current draws using ATItool or ATI Tray Tools to confirm that processing has actually begun on the GPU itself.

In order to guarantee that the GPU will initialise, the GUI window should be closed when starting the client.

Folding performance appears to be similar to 7.9. Many reports claim that the best online casinos list performance is achieved with the v6.11 drivers (if your card is supported)

The following versions of Catalyst are known to work with the GPU client:
  • 6.5
  • 6.10 - 6.11
  • 7.2 - 7.10
The GPU client will work with these drivers with a significant performance hit:
  • 6.6
  • 6.7
The following drivers do not work at all with the GPU client:
  • 6.8
  • 6.9
  • 6.12
  • 7.1

Tested with X1900XT 256 on Windows XP 32bit

News We're switching over the url for our main page http://folding.stanford.edu to point to the new web page. It's possible that the folding.stanford.edu alias will not work for a while during the switch over.

You can still find the old page at http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/folding and the new page at http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/cgi-bin while the folding.stanford.edu address is out.

News We've completely overhauled the FAH web pages. The inspiration for the changes were multi-fold, but mainly the old site was looking a bit old stylistically and the translations were poorly integrated with the main text; in particular, the "download" pages were unique for each translation, yet only the English translation (main site) download page was updated.

There will be several new features behind the scenes which will be useful to us

* The new backend for the web site is much more flexible, allowing the whole Pandegroup as well as some other collaborators to make direct edits to the site. We expect that this will keep the site more freshly updated (esp in terms of the FAQ)
* The language translations will be MUCH better integrated best online casino. Check this out: when on a page (any page), click on a language link on the left and get that specific page translated! Chinese, English, French, and German are (mostly) all in, and more translations are on the way.
* Site search will now be integrated.
* Backend tricks will allow us to keep pages consistent -- between translations and even with the PandeGroup web site as well.
* Browser-specific pages: for certain pages (eg the download page), we will look to your browser to make specific recommendations (eg client recommendations) to hopefully greatly simplify the client-choice process (which has gotten really complex, due to all the clients we now support).

Our first goal was to get the site up and to port over the previous content. Over the next few weeks, we'll also be updating the content (some of which is fairly old and deserves a good updating).

For now, please check it out
http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/cgi-bin/

If all looks good over the next few days, this site will replace the old FAH onlinecasinogo site at the http://folding.stanford.edu url.

It looked like we've just crossed over a petaflop, some time last night. This is something we've been expecting for a while, due to the great performance that comes from the PS3 client. In particular, recent PS3 updates (see previous post) have greatly enhanced the performance of the PS3 client (running GB WU's). We expect this number to continue to rise a bit more (maybe to 1.1 or 1.2 PFLOPS) as we switch over to running exclusively GB WU's.
